LPCB security ratings explained

LPCB security rating certificate

At JOD Engineering, we take security seriously. It’s why we’ve developed our own range of secure access panels, Easi-Lok. Easi-Lok is specifically designed for utility companies to provide safe, fast, secure operation.

One of Easi-Lok’s key benefits is its LPCB level 4 protection against attack and vandalism (LPS 1175 SR4). To shed a little light on Easi-Lok’s security rating and what it means, today we’re taking a closer look at LPCB and the significance of its different security ratings. Keep reading for LPCB security ratings, explained:

What is LPCB?

LPCB stands for Loss Prevention Certification Board. LPCB is a leading international certification body for security and fire protection. Its purpose is to independently certify security and fire safety products to make sure they meet the right standards.

LPCB certification is recognised around the world. Users know that a product with an LPCB rating has gone through a rigorous testing process to ensure it meets industry standards.

LPS 1175 is the specific LPCB certification used to test physical security products like Easi-Lok.

What is an LPCB security rating?

LPCB carries out rigorous testing and assessments of security products like locks, secure doors, access control systems and safes, using standards set out by LPS 1175. This is to determine their resistance to forced entry and other security threats. Based on the outcome of these tests, an LPCB security rating will be assigned as a way of categorising the product’s level of security.

What are the benefits of an LPCB security rating?

An LPCB rating is an internationally recognised third-party approval of a product. There are a host of benefits to an LPCB rating for both the end user and manufacturer. An LPCB rating:

    • Demonstrates a reduced security or fire safety risk
Getting a product LPCB certified involves serious testing and evaluation of its security performance. A product with an LPCB rating is known to be able to withstand security breaches or attacks.
    • Enhances a product’s credibility
LPCB is internationally recognised and highly reputable. An LPCB rating, therefore, provides a competitive edge for a product, enhancing its reputation in the market.
    • Shows due diligence from the manufacturer
For manufacturers, obtaining an LPCB rating demonstrates a commitment to producing secure, reliable and high-quality products.
    • Is a sign of effective equipment
For end users, an LPCB rating is an indication of a product’s effectiveness. This is important for security equipment where reliable performance is vital.
    • Demonstrates compliance with necessary standards
LPCB-rated products often align with industry standards, helping with compliance in industries with specific security or fire safety standards.
    • Is internationally recognised
LPCB is known around the world for its high standards and strict testing procedures. No matter where you are in the world, an LPCB rating is a sign of quality.
    • Can help with insurance costs for the user
Many insurance providers recognise LPCB certification as an indicator of enhanced security and reduced risk. As a result, this can sometimes help users with lower insurance premiums.
