Part of our 2022 plan for JOD Engineering was working towards becoming ISO certified. We recently received confirmation from independent auditors that from 17th June 2022, JOD is registered for three new ISO standards – ISO 9001-2015, ISO 14001-2015 and ISO 45001-1018. Keep reading to find out more about these new accreditations and what they mean for the future of the business.
Consistently high standards
ISO stands for the International Organization for Standardization. The organisation produces industry standards that have been internationally agreed upon by experts in the field, setting out standard formulas for the best ways for businesses to operate.
“Standards are the distilled wisdom of people with expertise in their subject matter and who know the needs of the organizations they represent – people such as manufacturers, sellers, buyers, customers, trade associations, users or regulators.” ISO.org
Put simply, working to ISO standards mean we’re following internationally recognised industry standards that ensure the quality, safety and effectiveness of our operations and products.
The accreditations
Let’s break down our three new ISO new accreditations and exactly what they cover.
ISO 9001: Quality management
ISO 9001 is an internationally recognised standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS). It’s the most used QMS standard in the world. The framework it presents ensures a straightforward and effective approach to business management, encouraging effective processes that ultimately result in high-quality products and services that meet customer and industry requirements.
ISO 14001: Environmental management
ISO 14001 refers to environmental management. It sets out criteria that businesses can follow to effectively follow an environmental management system. The standard encourages environmental impact to be both measured and improved when possible, allowing businesses and organisations to improve their environmental performance through efficient use of resources and a reduction of waste.
ISO 45001: Occupational health and safety
ISO 45001 is focused on improving employee health and safety. The standard sets out guidelines that aim to reduce workplace risk, injuries and illnesses around the world by creating better, safer working conditions. It takes existing occupational health and safety standards into account while providing a single framework which employers can work from to develop more effective health and safety measures.
